OMEGA-ThundeR Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Hi, We have a couple of printers installed and sometimes we need to use custom paper sizes. We use PDF printers (Cute PDF Writer, Adobe PDF), Laser printers (BW and a Color one) and the normal A0 plotter. For some reasen now and then in the "select plotter" there keep coming more plotters. For instance it has a Adobe PDF.pc3 but also an AdobePDFa.pc3 an AdobePDFaa.pc3 AdobePDFaaa.pc3 and so on. this happens on every printer/plotter. We think it has something to do with custom paper sizes, but were not sure. Anyone who has seen this before and knows how to stop it? Quote
Tiger Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Oh I have deleted soo many of these. What happens is that when you are plotting, you are getting a dialoguebox that says something like "You are creating a custom plot style, do you want to save it as a new one, or just use it this once" If you click Save it as a New one, you get one of those pesky aaaaa.pc3 things. What you need to do though, is to create one custom pc3 file, name it as something and then add it to your printer-list - then everyone can use that, and no more aaaa.pc3s need to be created. I apologise for the confusing language, I have just closed AutoCAD and write this from memory - if you need more info, I can write up a longer explanation in a bit. Quote
OMEGA-ThundeR Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009 I don't get that msg, so i must have signed something to "not show me this again" or something what i normally do with anoying msges . However i don't want to keep answering that question, so if i say "...use this one..." will it keep that 'in mind' for future plots? If not then hell, i rather delete some aaaaaaaaa files once in a while . Quote
Tiger Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Well, it won't keep it saved as the default for future plots - but it will appear in your list of plotters so if you do one a.pc3 file, you can then use that one in the future. Quote
OMEGA-ThundeR Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009 We do use standaard PC3 files for every printing device, perhaps someone is not and directly selects the device on which the ...aaaa.pc3 files are made. since everthing is network stored i should store them localy to ensure i am not the one filling the list with aaaa files. Quote
Tiger Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 yeah.... the aaa.pc3 files that I find, I have tracked down to one user that I just don't want the hassle of explaining how to do things and have just settled down to removing the aaa.pc3 files once in a while when I get annoyed with them. What you can do so you don't see the aaa.pc3 files, is if you have everything stored locally, you can under Options > Plot change to not show the network printers. Quote
