oldsoftboss Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Have been using AutoCAD2008 for a while now and recently installed a trial version of 2010 on my vista laptop. In short, 2010 would not open, kept bringing up errors etc, so I uninstalled it. Now when opening drawings in 2008, each drawing starts it's own instance of AutoCAD, so the Ctl+Tab shortcut to scroll through the drawings no longer functions. I presume there must be a registry setting (couldn't find any options in AutoCAD) that has been changed. Any help appreciated. Dave Quote
ReMark Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Read this. It not only explains what is going on (in AutoCAD 2 0 0 8 but also offers a fix. http://heidihewett.blogs.com/my_weblog/2008/06/good-question-a.html Quote
oldsoftboss Posted August 31, 2009 Author Posted August 31, 2009 Thanks for the reply. After typing SDI into the command line (Single Document Interface) as mentioned in your reply link, the setting was 0 (default). Have downloaded the service pack, will keep you posted on progress. Once again, thanks for the promt and exact reply. Dave Quote
oldsoftboss Posted August 31, 2009 Author Posted August 31, 2009 Well, downloaded the service pack and it wouldn't install as a message came up saying it could not find the product!! Quote
ReMark Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 OK. Profile says 2005. Thread says 2008. We are talking 2008 right? Quote
oldsoftboss Posted August 31, 2009 Author Posted August 31, 2009 Forgot I even had a profile with that info Yep, refering to A2008, link is for 2008, download service pack is for 2008, but wouldn't open?? Quote
ReMark Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Maybe you did not completely uninstall 2010 and that is the software the service pack is referring to. Quote
oldsoftboss Posted August 31, 2009 Author Posted August 31, 2009 Yeah, 2010 did infect the PC and left bits everywhere, even using the programs unistall I had to manually delete bits from all over the place. Heaven knows whats left in the registry Quote
ReMark Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Here is the procedure for uninstalling AutoCAD as per AutoDesk. You may have missed a couple of folders. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=2887771&linkID=9240617 Quote
ReMark Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 BTW, didn't you create a Restore point before installing AutoCAD 2010? Quote
