Jrashaw Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 I'm mating two plates with circular bolt hole patterns(identical) The pattern is surrounding a center hole like a pipe flange. I've mated the surfaces together(coincident) the center openings(concentric)but when I try to mate two of the bolt holes (concentrically or otherwise) I get an overdefined message or can't solve message. It seems like a simple mate to me. What's going on? Quote
shift1313 Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 you dont need more than two holes to locate the flange. any more and it will be over defined. Depending on what you pick for your mates it can be done with two. If you mate the faces of the flange then select two holes to be concentric it will be done with 3. Quote
Jrashaw Posted September 1, 2009 Author Posted September 1, 2009 Sorry for the trouble Matt. I made an error creating the part itself. I used the distance from the origin to set the first hole of the pattern. But I set my point on the wrong face which made the distance slightly off. It mates fine now. Thanks for your help. Quote
