hellnback Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 I have some Mtext that I would like to place on 2 lines eg. "Lot 1 DP 999999" I'm trying to use the find and replace to do this: Find "DP" and Replace with "DP" Is there any way to do this?? Cheers. Quote
Dipali Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 If it is a mtext you can select it & change the width in properties, so if you specify width smalller, it will get chnged to 2 lines instead of single line. try reducing width of one mtext with grips or stretch & than chaeck the value & than use the same value for all the text. JerryG Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Try this- Go to find and replace replace the text like you normally would but in the Replace with box and more spaces between the two peices of text that you want seperated. You might have to do it a couple of times but it should place the the last piece of text below the first because (if it is Mtext) you will be going outside of the mtext width box (like what Dipali was explaining) which automaticly putes it on the next line. BIGAL Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Microsoft word allows you to do what you want you can put a CrLf to be technical in as an option in the find and replace to be exact use ^p Tried a couple of things maybe some one else knows how to enter keycodes that give a new line tried using the hold alt button and type number for Lf and Cr did not work. You may be able to enter a code \u+xxxx where xxxx is a octal or hex number trying to find my list to work out a Cr. Some else may have the list look at the @ option when editing. Quote
hellnback Posted June 12, 2008 Author Posted June 12, 2008 If it is a mtext ..... Try this-.... Thanks guys, but would rather have a carriage return than a lot of spaces. Some of the mtext is quite long and would require different widths for it to work properly. (Current width is 0) Microsoft word allows you to do what you want you can put a CrLf to be technical in as an option in the find and replace to be exact use ^p Yes, I've done it in word, which is exactly what I was trying to do in CAD. I will go through the list and see if there's a \u code for CR as for the keycodes I couldn't find one. Quote
hellnback Posted June 12, 2008 Author Posted June 12, 2008 Found some things on Carriage Returns here. but alas still couldn't get it to work.... oh well. Quote
BIGAL Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Hey got some interesting answers using \u+000D and \u+000A CrLf sure its the right path Quote
hellnback Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 Hey got some interesting answers using \u+000D and \u+000A CrLf sure its the right path Got it to split the text using \u+000A, only thing is it doesn't display properly, has the Lot 1 to the left of the insertion point (MC Just) and the DP99999 down a line and to the right of the ins? But then when I go into the mt ed and just hit OK (not change anything) it comes out perfect???? I've tried regening but can't get the text to refresh itself, I vaguely remember seeing something about being about to regen indiviual objects somewhere.....? Anyone know about this? Cheers. Quote
hellnback Posted September 30, 2008 Author Posted September 30, 2008 Cool, now that I'm on 2009, she works brilliantly using replace "" with "\u+000A". Quote
