DWG Destroyer Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Hey, Another annoyance I have happened upon in ACAD 2009; when opening a drawing, AutoCAD 2009 will not bring itself to the front like 2008 used to. A minor inconvenience but I did much prefer it when 2008 would pop up with the selected drawing once it had loaded. I am finding myself clicking on a drawing and wondering what is taking so long for it to open, only to realise that it has opened and I haven’t clicked over to the ACAD window. Anyone know why this is happening and how I can remedy it? Quote
ReMark Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Do you mean that it is minimized when it first opens? Quote
DWG Destroyer Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 No, it is maximised, yet AutoCAD remains behind other windows I have open. It used to jump to the front when I opened a drawing from a folder… Quote
ReMark Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 So in other words it has lost focus. Right? Quote
DWG Destroyer Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 Yes, you could say that. But why!? Quote
ReMark Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Not sure why but if you want to give AutoCAD top dog status here is one way to do it with a free utility called AlwaysOnTop. http://www.simplehelp.net/2008/04/09/how-to-keep-any-windows-program-always-on-top/ I think you can get similar results using TweakUI by changing the setting for prevent applications from stealing focus or you can get adventurous and use Task Manager > Applications tab > right-click on program (AutoCAD 2009) and under the heading Switch to select the Bring to front option. Use this as a last resort only. Is there a Windows geek in the house? Maybe he/she can explain the cause of the problem and offer a better solution. Quote
DWG Destroyer Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 Hmmm. I'd rather not go down those routes as it's not a real problem, just something I miss from 2008. Thanks though! Quote
ReMark Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I don't have that problem with any version of AutoCAD I have on my computer. Quote
DWG Destroyer Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 I must've gotten lucky... Quote
ReMark Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 No, I'm the one who is lucky. Judging by the myriad of problems people post about here most days my Windows/AutoCAD/hardware experience has been downright boring. I can count on one hand the number of problems I've had over the past several years. Quote
bonehead411 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Similar strange things have been happening to me recently. I'll open a drawing and outlook will pop up from the taskbar! No help I know, just thought I'd share that and let you know you're not alone. Quote
