Jrashaw Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 When I send an assembly to a coworker who doesn't have Solidworks on his computer he opens it with E-Drawings but the file will only open part of the way. It stops at a certain point each time as if something happened there on creation. When I open the same assembly in Solidworks it pauses at that same point but then finishes building.Any Ideas? Thanks! Quote
shift1313 Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Does the part(s) in question produce any errors? can you use the design checker to find any issues with the model. What version of SW are you using? Quote
Jrashaw Posted September 11, 2009 Author Posted September 11, 2009 Hey Matt, I'm working with SW2009 There's no issue with the assembly that is apparent to me. I can't find design checker per se on my program. I wonder if his old system might be the problem. It's a few years old. Do you mean one of the Xpress routines (simulation Xpress?) Quote
shift1313 Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 once my solidcam simulation finishes ill try to grab a screen shot for you. you said your assembly pauses when it gets to the same point his locks up right. When you are loading this assembly on your system, is this the full assembly or a lightweight version(feather icon over your parts in the design tree). Quote
shift1313 Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 under the tools menu you have something called CHECK and Assembly Expert. These will diagnose files that are fine. If you have an error in your design tree and you right click on the component you will see "What's Wrong". this will diagnose errors. Here is a screen shot of a component tha has no errors, when Check was run, it shows an open surface. Things like this may cause issues when exporting or opening files in other programs. This may not be the issue but i find more times than not, issues in one program usually result from geometry. When you bring files into solid works it will auto-check them, find gaps or small features and so on. Quote
Jrashaw Posted September 11, 2009 Author Posted September 11, 2009 I fixed one little issue and it opens up for him now! Thanks again Matt! Quote
