Hi all,

I downloaded PrimoPDF, as soon as I right-click on the "Layout 1" tab and choose Plot i get this error message? I cant work it out, i can still then go onto the Plot dialoge box if i press ok but its really anoying, has anyone else had this problem?

Also when i do plot a drawing and saving the PDF it also creates a annoying little text document beside the PDF? can i stop this?

Any ideas?

Uninstall PrimoPDF and get cutePDF.

About 99.95% of people on this website will agree that cutePDF is the best

You could also use the DWG to PDF plotter (which comes with AutoCAD)

Lox,

+1 for cutePDF, its excellent.

But I do not "plot" from AutoCAD to PDF, I "publish" to a dwf file. Then open the new DWF file with Autodesk's free DWF viewer, and then you print/plot from the DWF file to PDF.

The resulting file is better quality and only a fraction of the size a PDF would be from plotting from Autocad, and no annoying little extras and wrong orientations etc...

What version are you working with that you have to go through a viewer to plot to PDF ?

For a free *.pdf program, cutepdf is excellent; www.cutepdf.com.

I did use cutepdf some time ago however, I now use Adobe's program.

I'm using 2006. I don't "Have" to go through viewer, but as I mentioned the file size when plotting from viewer in measured in only Kb's, but when plotted from AutoCAD its measured in Mb's. Its up to 8x - 10x the file size for some reason???

example: a plot from viewer 3xA1 full colour media = 320kb

example: the same file plot from ACAD = 3.0 Mb

using the same cutePDF printer drivers

Anyone know why???

I use DWG to PDF.pc3 a lot. But some times use AutoDWG DWG to PDF converter a lot to batch create PDF files.

Are there lots of hatch entities or truetype texts?

Yes, there are a fair amount of hatches, "not stupid amount" and all text/spec are in TT fonts.

Does that create one large PDF file?

I think so. As everytime there are, especially lots of TTF, my created PDF gets larger. So I think there is somthing to do with TTF and hatches. Hathes are necessary and sometimes I choose to get outline TTF.

Have you uninstalled novaPDF yet? If you go to page setup manager you can select the setup that has novaPDF and either delete it or edit it to use cutePDF
