Hugh_Compton Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 AutoCAD can work well for MEP drawings. Try using it alongside one of these libraries: Pipework & Structural Steel http://www.3DCADMax.com 3D AutoCAD Pipework – http://www.HerculeDesign.com Or if you'd prefer 2D: 2D AutoCAD Pipework - http://www.3dcadmax.com/2DPipeFittingsAutoCAD.htm Autodesk also offer AutoCAD MEP - http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=3290681 AutoCAD MEP is the front runner in high end piping programs. Inventor Professional has a pipe program that is impressive but has a very steep learning curve if you are from an AutoCAD background. Quote

Hugh has given some great links. I am a MEP drafter and I currently run AutoCAD MEP 2008. However, I can still do normal 2D MEP drafting in a normal version of AutoCAD, which is still apart of the MEP Package. There is a really good Lisp program on this board that allows you to draw pipe/ductwork in 2D and is very powerful. If you want more info I can help you out on how to install it on your current AutoCAD program. Quote

tzframpton Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 After you install the Lisp file, type DUCT to execute the program. Quote
