jonnyt8010 Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Hi everyone, This is my 1st time here, I work for an engineering company designing electrical panels, my knowledge of autocad is quite limited, forgotten it all since uni!! Anyway, I use Autocad 2004 & autocad electrical 09, however for this question, I want to use 2004 version.... I'm trying to design a range of blocks which hold information that I can export to a spreadsheet when the drawings finished, with information such as part numbers, descriptions and prices. If its possible, can someone tell me how to tie the desired information to the blocks and also how to export it when the drawings finished??? Thanks, Quote
Glen Smith Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Put the information that you want to export in attributes attached to the blocks. Once the blocks are inserted, you can use the express tools command ATTOUT (EXPRESS - BLOCKS - EXPORT ATTRIBUTES) to send them to a text file. Since you are using Electrical as well, you can also set up your parts as components and use Electrical to create a BOM. This takes more work getting things set up, but in the long run should provide a more complete solution. Glen Quote
