manuelns Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Hello everybody. I have an autocad drawing and an excel filewith 4000 names. I need to plot the same drawing with each of the names in the excel file. Is there a way I can automate this task? Thanks in advance for the advice. Manuel. Quote
Lee Mac Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 4000 prints?!? How many trees are you going to replant to compensate for that...! Quote
Lee Mac Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Back on topic though - what do you mean "names"? Are they to populate attributes in the drawing? Quote

Sorry for not making myself clear, I have one drawing and need to plot it for each of the 4000 names in the excel file, that is, copy the first name in the excel file, paste it into the drawing, plot the file, copy the second name, paste it into the drawing replacing the previous name and plot the file and so on. Thanks for your advice. Manuel Quote
Lee Mac Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 So you are just needing TEXT/MTEXT in the drawing at a certain point, containing the name. I see you are using LT - this means LISP is out of the question, making things extremely difficult.. Quote

Well, I also have the full version, is just that I use more LT because I almost never use 3d and lisp. If you could just give the general idea, I have experience in Visual basic and other languages, so I think LISP wouln't be so difficult. Thanks in advance. Quote
Lee Mac Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Take a look at this for a way to get info from excel http://web2.airmail.net/terrycad/LISP/GetExcel.lsp Quote
