Polstar Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Hi everyone. I am eanestly trying to teach myself Autodesk Architecture 2009. I have working knowledge of Autocad (used to work on Acad 2007). I understand all the principles of ACA but was wondering... How do i set myself up (domestic dwelling extension designer) to start each project? I mean... can i setup a tool pallette with all the components i will need (ie, exg external wall/internal wall. proposed external walls/internal walls) so that each time i start a new job they will be there waiting for me? Or do i have to import these from the last project? Do i have to start each job as a seperate project or is there a quick way of producing plans, elevations and 3d views? I know this might be a lot to ask but i know you guys are the best to help Quote
Noahma Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Your best bet is to go look for a copy of Mastering Autocad Architecture 2008 by Paul Aubin. Paul Aubin did not release a book for the 2009 release, but 2008 and 2009 are similar enough that the methods are the same. The questions you asked are very loaded and complex to cover in a single post, and would take substantial effort to go through. Quote
CADMASTER1128 Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I am using ACA 2008 here at home... What I did is explored what AutoCAD had to offer and played around with the different commands. I prefer the self taught method. That is how worked my way though the 3D modeling. I just happened to look at my toll pallets and saw some wall styles and just stared drawing. I started to explore deeper into the software and learned how to apply materials and etc.. Now dont get me wrong. There were time where I had to use this site and get a few textbooks but I am 90% self taught. Anything you really want to learn? I have a few tutorials, and more are coming. Quote
Polstar Posted October 2, 2009 Author Posted October 2, 2009 Is it easier to answer the question.. Can i just draw a new building and view floor plans, elevations, 3d and sections without setting up a whole new project? IE open ACA, start drawing and make sheets?? I know i am trying to run before i can walk but i would like to get productivity up quickly Eddy Quote

The issues come apparent when doing multi-floor projects, at that point you have many different problems that can creep up. There is an addon to Autocad Architecture that tailors to the small commercial and Residential people called VisionREZ that does use a single file per building, it handles up to 8 floors, and you can open a blank drawing and start creating your building. I think that is what you are asking right? Quote
