steve klossing Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 r14 vs 2000? will both work on xp home os? Quote
chelsea1307 Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I remember reading somewhere on cadtutor that someone was trying to install an older version of acad on there machine with xp and could NOT get it to work, ive been looking around but cant seem to find it. Is there a reason you want to run R14 or 2000? What are the specs of your computer... other then the OS Quote
ReMark Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I have successfully run AutoCAD 2000 on XP Pro. I even ran r14 on Windows 2000. Quote
Tankman Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 AutoCAD 2000 is an excellent program. Runs well under XP OS. Although I use '05 or '07 today, I still save to 2000. A request from a number of clients, including Dupont. '07 is installed on desktops but my Thinkpad™ laptops have '05 installed. Go with 2000! Quote
ReMark Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 A jump to AC 2000 would probably necessitate taking a hard look at your computer setup to make sure it meets the minimum requirements. Quote
catfever Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 2000 and 2006. i like 2000 for small size and running smoothly. but... "ssx" available since 2006?! Quote
Tankman Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Steve: I think you will find AutoCAD 2000 runs with a bare minimum hardware environment. I've run 2000 for many years, never a glitch. Upgraded to '05 then '07, I sometimes wonder why(?). Quote

jnywu Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 (...)but my Thinkpad™ laptops have '05 installed. Haha, trademark? I agree, as long as it's not a 64 bit version of windows xp, autocad 2000 should install just fine Quote
jagwinn Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 . I use AutoCAD 2000 on WinXP. When first tried to install, incompatible OS came up and it would not allow install. I opened COMPATABILITY WIZARD and chose Win2000 as a virtual OS, and the wizard installed AutoCAD for me! It works as well as on my Win2000 machine, and it even has the look of XP in the color scheme and windows. . Quote
catfever Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 SSX was available in the original Express Tools (Bonus Tools), released with r14. thx for remind:) Quote
ReMark Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 I still have the Bonus CD's that loaded Express Tools when they were first introduced. Quote
