r14 vs 2000?

will both work on xp home os?

Posted

I remember reading somewhere on cadtutor that someone was trying to install an older version of acad on there machine with xp and could NOT get it to work, ive been looking around but cant seem to find it. Is there a reason you want to run R14 or 2000? What are the specs of your computer... other then the OS

I have successfully run AutoCAD 2000 on XP Pro. I even ran r14 on Windows 2000.

AutoCAD 2000 is an excellent program. Runs well under XP OS.

Although I use '05 or '07 today, I still save to 2000. A request from a number of clients, including Dupont. '07 is installed on desktops but my Thinkpad™ laptops have '05 installed.

Go with 2000!

A jump to AC 2000 would probably necessitate taking a hard look at your computer setup to make sure it meets the minimum requirements.

2000 and 2006.

i like 2000 for small size and running smoothly.

Steve:

I think you will find AutoCAD 2000 runs with a bare minimum hardware environment. I've run 2000 for many years, never a glitch.

Upgraded to '05 then '07, I sometimes wonder why(?).

SSX was available in the original Express Tools (Bonus Tools), released with r14.

Haha, trademark?

I agree, as long as it's not a 64 bit version of windows xp, autocad 2000 should install just fine

.

I use AutoCAD 2000 on WinXP.

When first tried to install, incompatible OS came up and it would not allow install.

I opened COMPATABILITY WIZARD and chose Win2000 as a virtual OS, and the wizard installed AutoCAD for me!

It works as well as on my Win2000 machine, and it even has the look of XP in the color scheme and windows.

I've got a Bonus.rar file on my portable CAD stuff harddrive.
