We use AutoCAD 2009 and are in the process of upgrading to 64-bit XP on most machines. We knew AutoCAD could work just fine; but we are noticing now that VBA programs that work in 32-bit XP (and still work) do not work in the 64-bit environment.

I thought it was just a complier error, so I tried copying the files and recompile the copy on the 64-bit machine; but this does not work. I get “Automation Errors” and “Unspecified Errors”. In a few cases it looks like the program cannot find commands; but these are standard commands, like "Len" and "Left".

Can anyone explain? Are the VBA libraries and/or compliers that different between 32-bit and 64-bit? I heard VBA is being phased out do you think it is just not being offered in 64-bit systems?

If we take the time to convert these to .NET would we still need two different programs?

I will appreciate all the help I can get.
