voltron Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Hi; I have a problem with dimensioning with alternates. As shown in the jpeg image attached, a table reflects 2 distinct dimensions (max/min) for "Jedec STD Measurement" and "Current Measurement". I need to reflect the Jedec STD Measurement in the "[ max and minimum value ]" (as alternate unit) to the primary value (Current Measurement). The primary value (Current Measurement) is .0680 ± 0.002. The Jedec STD Measurement will have a tolerance limit of 0.004. How can I do that? Also, if I will use text override for this scenario, how may I do that? Please help me with this dilemma. Thank you! voltron Quote
totzky Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 A lot of mathematics is involved. Research first on these system variables: dimtm, dimtp, dimaltf. They may give a clue to your question. Quote
voltron Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 Hi papagyi; Sorry I may have caused you to misinterpret it...I think the precision value is already reflected in the image I attached...I plan to reflect what is reflected in the table which is really not an alternative unit (say, "in" to "mm") it is more of "as based on a standard or a specific dimension" the reason why I showed the table. Maybe a text override? Hi totzky; I will check it out. Hi guys; Can you help me more on this topic...I am tempted to use text override but dont know how to reflect text override for "limits-alternate units". Well, you can always use the text tool and make a block for the parentheses but I feel there is a better way for this.. Any help will be really appreciated. Thanks! voltron Quote
dbroada Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 do you have to have both sets of number, can't you just draw it to the dimensions you want? Quote
NBC Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Alternatively, why not just put this information into a note if it is applicable to a number of your dimensions ? Quote
voltron Posted October 10, 2009 Author Posted October 10, 2009 Hi dbroada/NBC; The procedure that we use is we put it in a table and annotate it. I was just trying out a dim style that I saw in a "product drawing" of the same nature wherein it was reflected as such. I did draw it to the given dimensions but I was just trying out if it can be done as such. I am also at a loss as to how it will be done through text override. I get your point as presenting it as in a standard dim style. That was also mine until I saw said product drawing reflecting such. I asked our previous customer how did they did that but there was no response from them. Maybe you can try it out to see how it can be done as such. Thanks for the input guys I really appreciate it!! Kind regards, voltron Quote
