DJB Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I’ve got a DXF file that was created with a third party piece of software in development. It opens fine in SolidWorks eDrawings 2009 but I get the following error when opening it in AutoCAD 2010: “Omitted group 3 on line 26. Invalid or incomplete DXF input – drawing discarded” I think the problem is possibly due to changes in the DXF file format but am not sure. Could someone please have a look at the attached DXF file and tell me what is wrong or what changes need to be made. Any help is appreciated. slice.dxf Quote
dbroada Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 all I can tell you I have the same problem as you using 2008. I deleted the first section and got this. Is that what you are expecting? Having deleted a section from the file you may be missing something but at least it opens (here). slice[1].dxf Quote
DJB Posted October 8, 2009 Author Posted October 8, 2009 Kind of, the deleted part is needed to give the model a dashed outline. If there's another way of getting a dashed line in AutoCAD 2008/2010 then that would be great. Quote
Tankman Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 DJB: Tried twice, I get the same error message you've been getting. Sorry. Quote
DJB Posted October 8, 2009 Author Posted October 8, 2009 No problem Cheers dbroada and Tankman for looking at it! Quote
dbroada Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 If there's another way of getting a dashed line in AutoCAD 2008/2010 then that would be great.you should just be able to assign a new linetype, either to a layer or to the object. Check under FORMAT|LINETYPE that you have one loaded and then you can change the object linetype using properties. Quote
DJB Posted October 8, 2009 Author Posted October 8, 2009 Thanks again dave for your help! My collegue is a software developer writing the code to create the DXF file manually in another piece of software and needs it to be able to be opened in AutoCAD 2008/2010. Changing the file in AutoCAD isn't an option as it must be correct before going into AutoCAD. Do you have any ideas? Thanks again! Quote
dbroada Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 other than "correcting" the drawing and saving it as a DXF and compare the 2 files line by line, no. Quote
