segovia Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Hi - I want to use Autocad LT to draw an outline of an acoustic guitar which I can send to a manufacturer to make a template. Unfortunately guitars are not all perfect cirlcles and straight lines. How would you approach drawing the layout. The dimensions would be 20" lomg by 16" wide max. I am looking at drawing the plan view i:e the bit you would see if someone was playing it - no neck just the body figure 8 type shape. John Quote
ReMark Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Check out the Competitions forum (number 4 to be exact). It was all about drawing guitars. Quote

Coosbaylumber Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Was a fellow in Northern Texas doing such as you are mentioning, cannot remember his name, but bought a Universal laser cutting machine some time ago, and is making good profits now cutting out guitar parts. He got swamped by jobs coming in and sub-let off his work to another similar fellow in Northern Florida about three years ago (who goes by the moniker of TANK). Both of which used to tune into SAWMILL CREEK every once in a while and ask for help on some matter. It will take some looking but you can catch them there (but not here) too. Neighter has reported in for a number of months now at Sawmill, so things must have ironed out or they got work. Wm. Quote
tzframpton Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 use the SPLINE command, or use a POLYLINE and select Arc. Best way to make smooth curves on a continuous path. You'll just have to get used to how it works and get better at it. Quote
