Hatch Around Text Added Later

Is there a simple method for adding text to a hatched area and then have the hatch pattern clear from around the text similar to what happens when you hatch with existing text already in place?

Are you familiar with the Express tools text mask command? Will that do what you want?

Annotate tab then select wipeout, draw whatever shape you need to create for your text and all is well! Oh, if you do the wipeout after text, the text will disappear.

If you dbl-click on hatch or type HE to hatchedit, you can add boundaries (will allow you to select additional objects).

 

Forget wipeouts, MText has a background setting.

I use the trim command to modify the hatch.

activate the text box so that the blue grips are showing. Dont open it for text editing. Open the properties window, under the text heading, change Background to yes.
