We, being blessed (*cough*cursed*cough* with three extra letters in the alphabet (å,ä,ö) always have a problem with the ISO.shx. And yes, we do want to use the ISO.shx, not the ISOCP.shx, don't ask me why really, but that's the way it is right now.

Anyway, we have one ISO.shx from way back when that we use that have the å,ä,ö in it, and everytime we upgrade we take that ISO.shx with us. We remove the ISO.shx that comes with AutoCAD and replace it with the old ISO.shx that works. This we do on every new computer that we install and it usually works like a charm.

In comes my newest co-worker.

I did the same thing that I always do, I copy the ISO from my computer that I know is the correct one, rename the ISO that he has to ISO_ORG (just in case) and paste in my ISO in his Font-folder.

Problem:

Fairly often (I just asked, and he can't say that it's everytime, but it's fairly often, might even be everytime he opens a drawing) when he opens a drawing, the text font looks wrong. It still says that it's the ISO.shx font, but the text looks wrong, the tabs have changed in the MText, spacings are wrong. If he closes down autocad, and replaces the ISO with my ISO again, it looks good. Until next time.

I'm wondering if anyone has any idea on what is going on here? I haven't been able to figure out what's been going on and any pointers would be very helpful!

For 2008 products take a look in...

C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Autodesk\\R17.1\enu\Support

...to see if there is an original ISO.shx font there as well.

Checked, but no ISO.shx there.... there was a simplex.shx in there though, wonder why...

have you checked your FONTMAP and FONTALT variables ?

FONTALT: simplex.shx

FONTMAP: a so long search path that AutoCAD can't write it all out... can't say I understand what FONTMAP does though?

Have changed FONTALT to ISO.shx just in case.
