v2008 Studio animation rotation frustration

I've been using Studio animation for a little while and have figured most aspects out thus far. But when I go to animate a rotation of about 10 items in one assembly about a central point (in this case the center axis of a ring), the axis ends up changing position and the end result is that the individual items rotate far off the axis I first selected (that ring I mentioned). Why is the axis moving from the first object's axis to another point? The assembly is a coupling that I want to show rotating about its central axis. Seems simple enough...

I thank you.

Would have to see the files to be certain or at least some screenshots. You need to be a member for longer to post these though. Or you need to have 5 posts in the forums. Are you using Inventor Studio or Drive Constraint?

I'm currently using Studio. Attached are shots of the axis at the first selection and then after the command has been completed and I've gone back to edit it.

Well how about trying something different. I normally do not use Component Animation as it is sometime unreliable and difficult to get exactly what you want. Go back into your assembly and constrain the planes of the cylindrical objects together so that they do not spin on each other (usually Origin Planes are best for this, and I hope you built yourself around the origin of your parts). Then in Studio use Animate Constraint instead and you will more than likely find better results.

Alright, I'll go back and go about it the animate constraint way and see how that turns out. Thanks.

After messing with it some more using Animate Components, I found that all the trouble was caused by the origin center point of the first part I placed in the assembly. I edited it's sketch to put the point where I wanted it (for rotation) and all is well.
