dlxowhd Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 ok i don't know how to explain this well but here it goes.. first of all, i'm using autocad 2008... i'm not sure if this is fixed in 2009 or 2010 versions. anyway, when i use the wipe out command, and frames off of course, i'm not supposed to see a part of drawing since it's 'wiped out'. and i don't see it on the drawing which is good. but when i print it, i see a part of the frame (or outline) of the wipeout box... it's like a very thin/light line. is this a bug or is there any way to fix this? alanjt Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Are they normal plots or are you creating PDFs? Quote
alanjt Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 normal plots Hmm, I don't remember any problems in 08 or 09, but I rarely use wipeouts since they suck when creating PDFs. Do you have a sample drawing you could post? Quote
dlxowhd Posted October 20, 2009 Author Posted October 20, 2009 i don't have it at the moment but i will post it when i can find one. Quote
chelsea1307 Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 dont know a whole lot about wipeouts so ignore me if im way off, could you create the wipeout on a non plot layer? Quote
alanjt Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 dont know a whole lot about wipeouts so ignore me if im way off, could you create the wipeout on a non plot layer? Then the wipeout wouldn't plot. I thought and tried it, once. Quote
chelsea1307 Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 was worth a shot, viewports still show even if the outline of the viewport is on a non plot layer Quote

Cadologist Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I am not sure if this is the solution or even something related, but click the 'wipeout' will say 'raster image' in the properties, see what the image adjust section says, should say Brightness 50, Contrast 50, Fade 0 (maybe 'fade' is at some number), also under miscellaneous, show image and show clipped should be 'yes' and transparency should be 'no'. Those are the default values. The ones in the Miscellaneous section are usually not-changeable. Worth a check anyway. Also check to make sure for some reason your wipeouts are not as some 'elevation' as in some things show up and some don't, may be another thing to check anyway. Good luck. Quote
Cadologist Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Just thought of another thing, when you create a 'wipeout' it's done with a polyline (closed one) and you get the option to erase it when you make the polyline. Cross window the region and see if there is a raster image (the wipeout itself) and a polyline, maybe the polyline is showing up slightly causing what you are describing. The polyline is useless and should be deleted anyway (for most cases). Quote
alanjt Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I like to use this in blocks as a replacement for using wipeouts. You can create a piece of solid hatch and set the true color to 0,0,0. Works just like a wipeout. Quote
Cadologist Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 ^^ that is a good idea, always nice when there are 'alternative' ways to get to the same result, never thought about doing that. You may be able to make a new viewport also and place it OVER the section you want 'wiped out' if your working from paperspace, just make sure you pan the viewport in modelspace over to somewhere that is completely blank. Organic Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 I've had this problem before when printing in that if I print to a CAD setup printer it works fine, whereas if I print to a regular printer, not setup to handle the CAD, the wipeout's screw up like this. Quote
Cadologist Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Yeah had a similar issue with 'TextMask' where some of them would print properly where others would ignore the 'mask' for some reason. Seems Wipeout and TextMask work in similar ways (got reason to use MTEXT all the time and use the background mark, works all the time). Quote

BTW, do a search with my name as the user for TextMaskToggle and you'll find my backgroundmask on/off toggle for mtext and multileaders. Quote
