CADTutor Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Although this is technically possible with AutoCAD - use the Helix command to create a series of paths and then extrude circles - it's not a tool I would use for this. 3ds Max may be a better option. I guess it depends how much detail you need and what it should look like. Quote

beauXjames Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 Interesting problem...as maybe the previous suggestions could get the rope to 'look' appropriate, if you're doing something for a technical project and are hoping to fully simulate this entity, i would suggest using some forumlas to drive it...what kind of thesis are you working on and what in the world does it have to do with a wire rope?
