KPR Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Hello all.....first time posting. I am using Autocad LT 2007 and I am recieving property site plan files with land contours. BUT, the contours are showing up as boxes with AecCivilbase written in the lower left hand corner of each box. My research tells me I need to download Object Enablers from Autocads website and also set the option in the system menu to automatically check Autocads website for Object Enablers. Well, I've done all that and downloaded one enabler and still cannot get the contour lines to show up properly. I am pretty sure these drawing were created with either Civil 3D or LDD. Is there any way to get the contours to show up properly in LT? Also, if I can get them to show up will I be able to manipulate them? Thanks for any help. Quote
Cadologist Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 You can get whoever you got the drawing from to 'EXPORT TO AUTOCAD' rather then just sending you the C3D or LDD drawing. Object enablers should work for things like this but I also have ran into issues in the past using non-LT ACADs and having some things not show properly. Anyone with C3D can take your drawing, open it and then as mentioned 'EXPORT TO AUTOCAD' and it will show properly for you, doesn't specifically have to be the person who sent you the drawing. Quote
KPR Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 Ahh....I kind of figured that might be the case but just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything I was missing. What I really need to do is get the company to upgrade to C3D! Thanks for the help. Quote
Cadologist Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I mean 'for the record' the object enablers should work but I have had issues installing it when it said it was already installed, when it wasn't and stupid instances like that, plus having it state it was installed, then not 'working' like it should. A C3D user should know 'better' then to send out a C3D drawing as-is to an end user (CAD user). Quote
KPR Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 Well, the person that sent me the file may not have known I wasn't working in C3D, but it never hurts to ask. I know whenever I send files out I try to make sure it's in a useable format for them. But, I use both Microstation and Autocad so I usually NEED to know what they're running. Quote
