Hello everyone.

I recently started to work in 2010 (from 2007), and i noticed that Data extraction isn't working the way it should. Or am i doing something wrong?

I’m using it to count how many pipes of what diameter are in a drawing (all dynamic blocks).

Where 2007 counts 10 × Ø75, l=20cm; 2010 counts 7, and than 3 more. In case of large buildings with many elements 2010 data extraction is practically useless (who would control all that data).

This is something that we noticed in 2008 also.

Here is a video (downloadable) of what i’m talking about so you can see for yourself, is this an ACAD, or human error.

Thanks in advance!

I can not see the video very well..... however i use data extraction on 2010 all the time and it functions very well for me.

An improvement which it couldn't do in previous versions for example was count nested blocks within a dynamic block.

As for your problem i would make sure that your diameters are all spot on, as if one if say 10.0001 dia it will give it a differnt count. To combat this i increment the stretches so it round the number up to the nearest full number.

Hope this helps

Try downloading it, than it should be fine.

Length is in question. I tried setting units to max decimal places, and it still does the same thing.

ACAD 2010:

7 l=20.000000000

3 l=20.000000000

ACAD 2007:

10 l=20.000000000

ah come to think of it i did get a couple of duplicates like this the other week and i just added them up in excel.... no reason for this to happen maybe it will be picked up in a service pack along with a couple of other nasties!

Nothing else we can do... For now i'm nagging my colleague who didn't move from 2007 :)
