Hello all:

I use AutoCAD 2009 with Civil 3d at work and I would like to have it at home also so I can get some work done from there, and my boss does not want me taking home the $15,000 copy with all the civil 3d stuff to install on my home PC (and rightfully so) so i am just wondering if i were to download a copy from the net and worked on my projects at home and then brought them back and forth from work to home and vice versa am I going to have any troubles with the exchanges from a purchased legit copy to my "pirated" copy??

Also, anyone know wheres a good place to download AutoCAD, i think just AutoCAd 2009 i dont need the civi 3d stuff i can save those for work

:o Uh yeah, umm we don't advocate piracy here. We will edit or remove posts with pirated information. Maybe you could try to reason with your boss to let you take your copy home and convince him that this will help you at work. It really is a win-win for him as a manager. It's sad that he does not see it this way.

Tell your boss that's fine, but you are going to download a pirated copy of acad from work.

Well, it is a valid question. I also think that Bosses like this lead to some forms of piracy. You have not broken any rules so no harm no foul ;) I was just putting up the Stop sign before it went to far. I still think you should reason with your boss on the issue. I hope I haven't run you off the forum, it was not my intent.

Ya i mean i wasnt sure if i was going to have issues flopping back and forth, and i didnt want to go and do 3 or 4 hours of work and then come in to plot it or send it to a client and have serious issues and have to re-do it.

well his solution is to stay late on a friday or come in on sunday and do work, i think he just is worried i would take the program and start doing my own things with it, for un work related purposed who knows, hes not very confident in the integrity of his workers for some reason, but i agree he should just come around and leave me to my work!

dont worry you didnt scare me off the forum, i feel bad for posting that it honestly didnt even cross my mind it would not be approproate! sorry again!

There is Home Use for all Autodesk apps but that has to do with the contract between the reseller and the company. Maybe you can discuss this as an option with your boss.

I think the Boss is right not to give you a $15,000 that's a licensed that is paid by him and I did understand your standing but you should have your own AutoCad , there's a lot of AutoCad LT selling at lower priced such as Amazon.com (sorry commercial thing just to let you know I'm not working with them) they have maybe lower than $800 . But if you using the full Autocad that's kind a problem. I bought mine in Dell , installment still paying for it double the Amazon.com.
