Cad64 Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 When you installed Autocad, did you include the materials library? You have to specify that you want to install the materials, otherwise they will be excluded from the installation. Just pop in your installation disk and install the materials library. Once you have the materials installed you can just apply the default glass materials to your windows and doors. Quote
RAO HASSAN Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 i did full installation...but just to be on safe side, i did but in the aca cd and i got three options.... 1-install product, when i click that i get two options both grayed out. 2-install utilities etc, when i click there, i see few options like license manager, but none of them there said install material library. 3-install development, when i click that i get options like install preconfigured aca to other machines etc. i see visualization pallet, it has few materials but not like brick. it does have clear class there but when i apply that to a wall, it turns blue but i dont see clear glass. Cad64 Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 You need to do a custom install, not the recommended standard installation. Then you will be given options like installing express tools, materials, etc. The reason why the glass material looks blue, and not clear, is because you need to render. The glass effect is created during rendering. Quote
RAO HASSAN Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 okay. i went ahead and installed the express library. now when i apply texture to one wall, my all the other walls turn into same material. even the curtain walls. Quote
Cad64 Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 When you first open the Materials Editor, there is one material slot available. That is your default material. Any texture you load into that material slot will now be your default material for all objects in the scene. You should always leave that first slot empty. Always create a new material. Quote

RAO HASSAN Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 but how can i change the texture of just one wall and not the others...I understand what you meant by leaving first texture slot undefined. but like if i have a wall that i want to be bring and leave all the other walls plain, how to i make just that wall brick with out changing all the walls in the drawing to be brick. Cad64 Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Select the material you want to apply and then hold down the Ctrl key and click on the wall face that you want to apply the material to. Holding the Ctrl key will apply the material only to the face you select. Quote

RAO HASSAN Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 just curious it there a way to make one side of wall one color and other side a different.... Quote
Cad64 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I already told you how to do that. See my previous post. You know how to apply a material to your model, right? By clicking the button in the material editor and then clicking on your model. Well, just hold the Ctrl key while clicking on the model and the material will only apply to the face you click on.
