ntxodl08 Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I have a outdoor living company that builds Arbors, shingled covered structures, outdoor kitchens, outdoor fireplaces and flat work. I wanted to see if anyone could guide/suggest me to the appropriate Autoad program that would help me best. Punch! is so generic. I do like the animation but need something that landscapers use as plans. Thanks Quote
ReMark Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 AutoCAD comes in a full version and what is called LT version. The full version costs between $3500 and $4000. The LT version is somewhere around $800 I believe. One of the main differences is that LT does not do true 3D. Other than layouts (plans) what else would you like to do with the software? Quote
ntxodl08 Posted November 12, 2009 Author Posted November 12, 2009 Well, I do like to show the house and how the structure would attach to the home for height elevation, how its attached and so on. This would be helpful when i submit to the city for permits. I have seen some nice landscape programs from competitors and was knock out as a scale drawing with all the info you needed. Quote
ReMark Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Sorry. I do not do landscape architecture so I would not be able to recommend a suitable program. AutoCAD LT can draw anything you could draw on a drafting board. Just about any CAD package out there (free, inexpensive to expensive) will have the ability to plot to a particular scale and dimensioning is a standard feature as well. What is your budget? Quote
ntxodl08 Posted November 12, 2009 Author Posted November 12, 2009 I was budgeting around $1500. Quote
tzframpton Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I was budgeting around $1500. Oh, well you will soon find out that Autodesk software and sub-$3,000 is almost non existent. Quote
ntxodl08 Posted November 12, 2009 Author Posted November 12, 2009 ahhh ok well thanks for all your help. Quote
ReMark Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 You can purchase AutoCAD LT 2010 through Dell for $649 after Instant Savings and Rebate promo they are running right now. This is the non-Subscription version. Subscription (payable yearly) gets you any bonus enhancements and upgrade to next version if it comes out within one year. Quote
