I can not find the cut extrude command in autocad 2009/3D.

Cut extrude command? Are you referring to the SLICE command?

Try the Home tab then look at the Solid Editing panel. Click on that black arrow in the bottom right hand corner. SLICE is located at the far right hand end of the flyout.

You must be coming from a SoldiWorks background. To cut extrude use Presspull command or Extrude as a solid and then do a boolean Subtract (like Combine -Cut in SWx). Check out the tutorials in my signature.

If my assumption is correct that you are coming from SWx background you might want to check out Autodesk Inventor which is more like SWx.

Students can download Inventor for free from http://www.autodesk.com/edcommunity and register to activate free 13-month student license.

Cut - Extrude and Combine - Cut. What other combination commands (not sure if that is the correct terminology) does a program like Solidworks have? Does Inventor emmulate the same nomenclature as well? Just curious.

The two programs are essentially identical. SWx has a tool for Extrude and another tool for Extrude Cut. Inventor has only one Extrude tool, but with options to Join, Cut, Intersect or create new solid body.

The functionality is identical - just different icons or options to accomplish the same thing.

Combine - join, cut or whatever is similar to AutoCAD with the advantage of an option to preserve original rather than having to make a copy like you do in AutoCAD. Particularly useful in things like associative core/cavity mold generation where the mold changes if the model geometry changes.

JDM provided you with instructions. What exactly is the problem you are experiencing?
