BuntyBunty Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Greetings, Is there a way that a dotted/dashed line can be viewable in model space exactly the same in paper space? ie; the same as how I want it to print? At the moment I can set them to view and print dotted in paper space but then when I work in model space the lines appear continuous? What I need is a way to view the lines dotted in both MS and PS. Many thanks. BB Quote
SuperCAD Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I may be wrong on this, but I think there is something within AutoCAD that causes linetypes to appear as continuous lines in modelspace even if you have the scale settings set correctly. My door blocks will sometimes show a continuous line in MS but look perfectly fine in PS until I go into the block editor. Then once I exit the editor everything looks fine until it decides to screw up again. I don't know what controls this or how to correct it, but thankfully I haven't run into this problem in a while. chulse Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Try MSLTSCALE = 1 Also set LTSCALE = 1 and PSLTSCALE = 1, then the line scaling can be driven by the annotation scale in both paper and model space. As for the block editor - check your annotation scale. Set the annotation scale as appropriate (ie 1:1 for paperspace blocks)... Quote
BuntyBunty Posted November 18, 2009 Author Posted November 18, 2009 Hi guys, Thanks for the comments but this does not seem to be working. Is there anything I am missing out? I have been reading other threads and posts and other people have tried similar processes without success. Do I need to set a PS or MS or LT scale in paperspace through a vport? What should I set annotation scale at? Should I use paperspace units for scaling. Many thanks. BB. Quote
lpseifert Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 As Chulse said... Msltscale=1 (displays linetype scales per cannoscale in the Model tab) Psltscale=1 (needs to be set in each layout tab, not a global variable) Ltscale=1 (or your choosing) Quote
rkent Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Does 2008 have MSLTSCALE? If not then when moving from MS to PS you have to toggle ltscale. I always did that with a simple tool to change ltscale to, say 48, right before changing to MS and ltscale to .5 before moving back to PS. Quote
dumfatnhappy Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 I'm having a terrible time trying to get my LT's to show properly....(been doing this for 20+ years and since going to 2010 I can't find my a$$ with either hand.) so many variables, it might as well be a golf swing. I've done everything I know and can't get them to display. really hating this Quote
SuperCAD Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 I have all of the settings correct, it's just that every now and again AutoCAD will decide to show all of my lines as continuous in modelspace and the only thing that will make it look correct again is going into the block editor and then exiting the editor. It's as if it runs out of memory or something. Quote
rkent Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Could be that SHADEMODE is not set to 2D, that one gets lots of people. Quote
SuperCAD Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Nope. Shademode is not the culprit in this case. Quote
BuntyBunty Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 Thanks for all your help guys, having read all your suggestions I think I've sorted it. Using 2008 you can set your lines to whatever type you want in model space (to how you want to view them) ensuring that in it's properties you set the linetype scale to 1.000. Then in paperspace you need to set PSLTSCALE to '0'. You will then need to double click into a viewport and REGEN for the lines to appear exactly as they do in model space. Repeat for all viewports and all tabs and everything will appear in paperspace the same as they do in model space. You may need to REGEN every now and again but at least you won't have to change a bunch of settings. Quote

MichaelBrenden Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Ran into this problem on AC 2010...AC kept showing all dashed/dotted lines as solid, regardless of settings...until I discovered MSLTSCALE = 0. Changed it to MSLTSCALE = 1 and boom, perfect. Quote
