todouble22 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Hi all, I got a .shx file for romans that makes zeros with a line through them and it works great. (I think it was the romansx7 file and thank you whoever created it!!) The problem is that we use romand in our titles and in various places in our drawings and the font doesnt have the zeros with lines through them so the consistency isnt there in our drawings? Can anyone help me in a way to create a new font file that will do this. I try to open the .shx file and its all code, is there a special program that I need? I want to be able to keep the structure of romand but add the zeros with the line through them? sorry for the ramble and I hope i'm explaining it well. thanks in advance! Quote
ReMark Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Here's a sneaky way to do it. Find the Romand.shx file and rename it to Romand.orig.shx. Make a copy of the Romansx7.shx file. Rename this file Romand.shx and you should be good to go. If you don't like the results for some reason delete the Romand.shx font you just created and then rename the original file. Quote

ReMark, Ya I did just that and the problem with doing it is the Romansx7.shx file is based on the Romans.shx file. It changes the zeros but I need to keep the style of the Romand.shx file. I attached an example of each. Quote
rkmcswain Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 You can edit the ROMAND.SHP file, then compile it to a SHX font file. The syntax is documented in the customization guide (under Shapes and Shape fonts) http://docs.autodesk.com/ACD/2010/ENU/AutoCAD%202010%20User%20Documentation/index.html?url=WSfacf1429558a55de1a7524c1004e616f8b-32e9.htm,topicNumber=d0e400457 If you don't have ROMAND.SHP (the uncompiled source file), then google for SHX2SHP.EXE and use it to extract the source from the SHX file. I downloaded the shx2shp.exe file but I dont see it doing anything to run when I open it. The dos opens beeps and closes? What am I not doing? Quote
rkmcswain Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 I don't have a copy in front of me, but I'm pretty sure you run it from a command prompt like this: C:\>SHX2SHP romand.shx romand.shp If you are just double-clicking on it from explorer, you will never see the instructions. Quote

rkmcswain Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 The SHX file must be in the same directory as the .exe file, or you will have to provide the full path to it. Quote

I figured that so I copied it in the same directory as the .exe file and it still says it cant open the shx file? thank you for your help anyway. Hopefully I can get to the bottom of it? Quote
