jff Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Hi all, I'm trying to import my .dwg into Illustrator. I open the file and choose the option to keep the file at the original size but I don't think it is the same as what I've drawn in autocad? Any Ideas? Thanks Quote
ScribbleJ Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 It has been a while since I used AI but if you choose to keep the original size I would be willing to bet it is doing just that. What leads you believe that it isn't? Quote
jff Posted November 20, 2009 Author Posted November 20, 2009 the rulers on the side. My art board is 20" x 30" and the drawing is at 1:100 in autocad, Ill try printing and see what happens. It just doesn't look right. Quote

jff Posted November 21, 2009 Author Posted November 21, 2009 Its first year architectural science work. I would just print it from autocad but I'm using the student version and when you print, it overlays a graphic on the sides saying that it was done by a student copy. I figured it out last night anyways. Thanks tho. Quote

If you're a student, and you're using the educational version for class projects, why does it matter if the plot stamp is on your printout? I'm sure your instructor will understand. Quote
jff Posted November 21, 2009 Author Posted November 21, 2009 our instructors expect professional work. We have full versions of cad in our lab so they wouldn't accept that excuse. I also prefer to work on the same computer at home. It's easier since the final presentation is a 30x40 layout including diagrams, perspectives, description etc. I'm laying this all out in illustrator. Quote
lulumara Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Instructors knows that you're using Educational Edition , there's no problem about that. You're not submitting it to an employer or a business stuff right. Quote
f700es Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Plot to scale as a PDF and then bring this into Illustrator. I've had to do this before back in the past. Quote
