80s Shoes Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Hi, I'm trying to draw a dimension on a 3d sphere - I've tried diameter and linear neither let me select the sphere. UCS is aligned appropriately. If I type list the bounding box information shows the diameter but I'd like to draw on the image. I'll just put text or a leader on the drawing if I have to but would like to do automatically. Thanks. Quote
CALCAD Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 80s Shoes, Try exploding the sphere. You probably need a polyline mesh that contains vertexes that can be dimensioned. Quote
JD Mather Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I would treat the Explode command just like you would treat a stick of TNT. Be very cautious and only use when that is really what you want (to destroy something). I might look into flatshot or solview & soldraw, or solprof. Just out of curiosity I just tried in Autodesk Inventor and it worked with out any gymnastics. Quote
CALCAD Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 JD Mather is right. Without knowing your experience level, I should have qualified my advice with warnings. Exploding is a destructive (and irreversible) command. If you don't want to modify the sphere object, you could draw a circle on the sphere's center with the same radius, then dimension to the quadrants. Quote
