Hi,

I'm trying to draw a dimension on a 3d sphere - I've tried diameter and linear neither let me select the sphere. UCS is aligned appropriately. If I type list the bounding box information shows the diameter but I'd like to draw on the image. I'll just put text or a leader on the drawing if I have to but would like to do automatically.

Thanks.

80s Shoes,

Try exploding the sphere. You probably need a polyline mesh that contains vertexes that can be dimensioned.

I would treat the Explode command just like you would treat a stick of TNT. Be very cautious and only use when that is really what you want (to destroy something). I might look into flatshot or solview & soldraw, or solprof.

Just out of curiosity I just tried in Autodesk Inventor and it worked with out any gymnastics.

JD Mather is right. Without knowing your experience level, I should have qualified my advice with warnings. Exploding is a destructive (and irreversible) command. If you don't want to modify the sphere object, you could draw a circle on the sphere's center with the same radius, then dimension to the quadrants.
