alijahed Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Hi All, Just a basic question, How can I change all the default setting of Mtext? I can't change many things in "Format>Text Style"(like Justify)! Cheers Ali Quote

Thanks for your reply, I know but I want to have my own setting as default on Mtext. So, once I use Mtext I have a text in the way that I'm looking for(no changing required after type something), then I want to drop that in to Tool Palette and have it handy. Cheers Quote

Create your MTEXT and get all the settings the way you want it, but in the text field just put something as a placeholder, anything.... like "TEXT" or "PUT TEXT HERE", etc. Then, create a block and select the text. Once you've created it as a block, save the file, and drag/drop it into which ever Tool Palette you choose. Now, right click the newly inserted Tool Palette block and when it says "Explode" click Yes. That way you can bring it in and it's ready to be "edited". Be sure to set it to whatever layer you want, or color, etc... you should get the idea. Quote

tzframpton Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 nice trick! like that. but there should be a way to define the default! Anything is possible with learning the Programming side of things. Other than that, just hit up the Wish List at AUGI and in 10-15 years it'll become a default. lol Quote
Tankman Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Sounds like an opportunity for Lee Mac, he does speak with a lisp or, isn't he talking to us? I know he's a busy beaver. Let's hope he checks in soon. Quote

Cheers Ali I use this on a toolbar button to Middle Center Mtext that I got from someone on these forums. ^C^C(initdia)(COMMAND ".MTEXT" PAUSE "J" "MC") So you can start mtext and watch the command line for the options and add them into the macro like that shown above. MrCrozzB Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 (edited) I know this is an old thread but I have not seen a really good answer. If you want all new MTEXT objects to have certain defaults you must change the settings for the font that you want to use and then select that font. 1. SELECT THE ANNOTATE TAB 2. SELECT THE FONT THAT YOU WANT 3. CHANGE THE SETTINGS 4. THESE WILL NOW BE WHAT IS USED FOR NEW MTEXT OBJECTS. HEIGHT CAN BE SET HERE. CLICK JUSTIFY OR SCALE TO ADJUST A SELECTION OF MTEXT OBJECTS All new MTEXT objects for this drawing using the current font should now have these settings. Hopefully this makes life easier than macros etc, you could create a custom font and then just import to any drawing this way. -John Edited May 29, 2013 by MrCrozzB Quote
