Hatch & Gradient button issues

Hello Everyone, I am a technition with a local school district and am having some issues with a student in autocad arch 2009. When this student clicks on the hatch and gradient button, instead of it opening the normal gui settings window, we are getting a prompt at the command line. The autocad teacher had mentioned that previously, he would be able to have the student type file dia, envoke option, and then set the numeric value from 0 - 1, previously changing that value would toggle between command line and gui window. That is no longer working, how can we get the gui window back? Any ideas or tips would be much appreciated.

I believe that filediag=1 is pretty much what the acad teacher had been using in the past to change back to the window, I just butchered the description of his steps above.

Secondly, the same student is unable to open the layers gui window either. When the layer button is clicked, instead of getting info at the command line as the hatch & gradient button is currently doing, all the toolbar buttons get ghosted out, and no window opens. The buttons become active again when she clicks around the screen.

Have you tried MENULOAD?

Have you tried changing Profiles?

I'm kind of in a sticky situation, as the previous tech who was the autocad guru is no longer here, and he was totally in charge of setting up and maintaining the autocad lab. I do know that he has changed alot of settings as far as the acad profiles go. He has designed a basic autocad profile that is read only, and each student grabs this(that way they all have the same menus and cant change/screw things up). The only step I have taken in trying to cure these issues was delete the students local copy of their roaming profile on the actual workstation. No luck with that so I have turned to you guys. I have also passed the menuload command onto the acad teacher to see if he has tried that.

Thanks "RKENT" , The acad teacher said he was familiar with the menuload command, so he is going to see where that gets him this afternoon. If no luck, then I will follow those steps to see about the .pat file.

The autocad teacher said that the menuload command didnt give him any options that would bring back the menu gui windows. If I have any free time today, I am going to follow rkents link for the .pat file.

As of this morning, I believe we have a found a solution. Something was corrupted on their server side windows profile. we went in and actually deleted their user profiles and let them rebuild themselves. with a fresh server side profile, all dialog boxes are opening. Going to do this with the other 2 students who are having issues to see if it solves everything.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear you may be back up and running soon.
