Alicia Koch Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 In order to issue drawings for comment before issuing for tender I need to write the word 'draft' in big letters across the drawing. Is there a way of making the text show up semi transparent so it does not obscure the drawing? Quote
lpseifert Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Depending on your .ctb file (assuming you're using color based plotting) make it a color that is screened (maybe 15% or so). Or try making it color 253 or 254 and see if that works. Make sure you use Draworder to back. Quote
Alicia Koch Posted November 25, 2009 Author Posted November 25, 2009 I am in the layout layer so cannot send the text to back. I set the screening to 5% but it did not make a difference I also changed the fill style to one with lines so it wasn't solid, still no joy Quote
chelsea1307 Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 We send out drawings all the time that are just drafts, instead of big word draft across have you though of putting something like PROGRESS PRINTS NOT FOR CONSTURCTION somewhere it doesnt have to be huge the fact that its there makes it so your not liable if someone builds off those plans Quote
donbosco Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 As someone said select one color and select 'object color' on plot style setting. for if you select 254, on plot style setting select that color to be printed on 'object color' means 254 instead of printing it on black. I use stamp, CONCEPTUAL ONLY NOT FOR CONSTRUCTION, or FOR REVIEW ONLY etc etc, stamp is better off instead word Draft unless thats necessity Quote
Alicia Koch Posted November 26, 2009 Author Posted November 26, 2009 I am using Autocad 2006, there is no stamp that youmentioned on my version, there is a stamp function ...how do I load it so it reads the text you mentioned? Quote
ReMark Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I add the word PRELIMINARY in big, open block letters. I assign it to its own layer (Status) and set the pen width to something like .09. Quote
eldon Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I would go for an AutoCAD shx font rather than a True-Type font, which can cover up a lot of linework. Quote
Coosbaylumber Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I add the word PRELIMINARY in big, open block letters. I assign it to its own layer (Status) and set the pen width to something like .09. I had a customer that thought I was perfect, in all my drawings. He would take the very first drawing I gave him, and make multiple copies and then issue it out. Days later reading the letter that was sent along asking him to Look Over, and make comment. After delivering the plan, was a few days of silence, then an outburst as he always had found something off the cuff, and wanted revised (and altered on the already mailed off copies too). I stopped this with adding two-three inch tall letters of PRELIMINARY diagonally across each sheet. This stopped the mailing out of imperfect drawings next time it was tried. I could easily spot it for he tried mailing out elderly drawings, also did it via the XREF process, so that it could be removed when corrected too. Wm. Quote

Just draw rectangle and write whatever you want inside, carry it as your stamp! Couple of utilities i worked for always used color 240 for this and always printed it as 240 Quote
