MSU_ARP11 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 hey im looking at buying a new computer and I need some advice. The main purpose of this computer will be writing papers, internet browsing, and taking lecture notes, although I do plan to use AutoCAD 2010 on it as well. will this computer work??? just go to bestbuys website and type in the search bar this SKU#: 9556036 sorry, I would post a link but I cant because i am too new to the site. Tiger Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 A general tip, if you are asking for advice, don't make the ones you are seeking advice from do all the work. In this case, simply copy-paste the specs on the computer onto here. A lot of people here log on while at work, as a five-min break kinda thing - then to go to bestbuys webpage and do a search is not so appealing. Just my opinion. Quote
CadDan Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 As Tiger said, you could post the specs to make it easier for the people you are asking advice from. On to the question though.. It's good enough for 2D. I don't see it doing a lot of 3D work though due to the graphics card. Quote

Do you need a laptop? For the same price you could get a much faster desktop that upgradeable. But if you need a laptop, thats different. Quote
ReMark Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Just the fact that it has an onboard graphics chip instead of a dedicated graphics card means that you could have an issue with the computer bogging down as drawings get bigger and more complex. Many people do not realize that in a system like this resources are stolen from the onboard RAM to supplement the graphics output. Quote
