MisterJingles Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Hi all Please excuse the beginner question but what is the difference between Relative and Full path when inserting Xrefs? And why would it tell me a relative path cannot be assigned? Regards Rob Quote
Tiger Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 The difference is that with a full path, AutoCAD searches for the X-ref in one particular location. With a relative path, AutoCAD searches for the X-ref on a location specified in relation to the DWG that you have open. As in "from this file, search one folder up and two folders down". The point is that you can move an entire folder-structure from location to location (tex from network drives to your local harddrive) without loosing the connections. Why it would tell you that a relative path cannot be assigned, I dunno. The file need to be saved first, that I know. But I too get the relative path cannot be assigned-error when the file as saved as well, haven't bothered to figure out why yet. You can after the file is attached change the path to relative manually. Quote
MisterJingles Posted December 4, 2009 Author Posted December 4, 2009 Thanks Tiger. It makes me question why there would be an option for Full path in the first place? Quote
