stephenward
i'm not an architect, i'm a first year part time student, i don't work for an architect either so trying to draw sections through buildings is proving a case of trawling the internet. can any one shed light on where they go for more drawings like this... http://www.seda2.org/dfcrb/6-2b.pdf and this... http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/uploads/br/steel_frame_illustrations.pdf and finally can or would you use a castellated steel beam for a first floor? Or did I just ask how long a piece of string is?
ReMark
Any good architectural drafting and detailing book would have similar types of details. Another source would be manufacturer websites.
stephenward
thanks remark, what's your book of choice. i like the drawings in Detail magasine, but find them slightly harder to follow
ReMark
My book of choice is Architectural Graphic Standards by Wiley but it is an American book. Then too I can walk into any home building supply store here in the U.S. and see a couple hundred books on display covering every aspect of construction and renovation. Tankman
Stephen: Perhaps the attachments'll get you goin' someplace. Not great conversions but, something to play with over the weekend. (I've been playin' a bit with the conversions this snowy, icy, morning.) steel_frame_illustrations_bb.dwg 6-2b-2.dwg 6-2b.dwg
Eatonpcat
What floor system/kind of structure do you want to use Castellated beams with??? I've only used them in parking garages as alternates for P.T. concrete. As of now (25 years or so experience), I have never designed a structure with these beams. Stick with Remark and Tankman, they always have good advice.
Tankman
Stephen: For your reference library, you might like to save the attached *.dwg files. Nice! I did split one drawing in two, download size limitations. Castellated_Beam_Design.dwg Castellated_Beam_Design_2.dwg
