qwerty81286 Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 hello, I am drafting a cross section of a reinforced hollowcore slab. Its not in 3d format but i want to use the massprop function to get the section properties of the slab. Could anyone tell me how to convert the cross section to a solid and then I presume massprop will work. i normally would be able to figure it out after about an hour of tinkering but i seem to have a mental block on this one. Any advice would be nuch appreciated. Quote
CarlB Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 An object can be a region to use MASSPROP. I believe one of the "boundary" (aka bpoly) options is to create a region. or maybe even "region" command, I'm not at AC to test. Quote
ReMark Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Using MASSPROP on a Region returns the Area, Perimeter, Bounding Box and Centroid. It's not enough just to create the profile of the hollow core slab but to make sure you deduct for the hollow cores using the SUBTRACT command after using the REGION command on it. Quote
qwerty81286 Posted December 8, 2009 Author Posted December 8, 2009 Thanks guys, I tried to subtract the hollows from the region and what i got was the following output in the command bar: 1 closed, degenerate or unsupported object rejected. Any thoughts? Quote
ReMark Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Yep. You got a "fluky" object there. Can you isolate it? Quote
