trmpt98 Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I am having difficulty creating a proposed surface. I have drawn polylines and assigned elevations to them but can't figure out how to make them into a surface. Currently operating in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009. Thanks for any help! Quote
ScribbleJ Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Are you familiar with C3D at all? If not I highly suggest you check out You Tube for instruction videos. There are some very helpful ones there. Also Autodesk University on iTunes has some podcast videos as well for free. Now onto your question. In C3D under the Toolspace dialog you will have several tabs. You want to be in the Prospector tab. Right click on Surfaces and create one. Once this is done you will have a new surface that adds more options to play with. Expand the new surface with the + sign and then do the same for Definitions. Under definitions you will see several different types of surface features. Since you have already drawn the entities which represent objects choose the Drawing Objects and right click it and select Add. Now you have a surface with features added to it. If you have Rebuild set to automatically run then your surface is created. Quote

When you go to the Surface tab in ToolSpace, create a surface then add Drawing Objects - it will allow you to select elevated polylines. Quote

alanjt Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 A fine hair at that! Quite true, but your explanation was a lot better. Quote
