I have auto-cad 2000i. I created a dxf file in Adobe Illustrator and when I try to open the DXF file with Auto-Cad I just get a blank screen. Is there a setting or something I need to change to see the image?

Thanks

Is there an option in Illustrator to save the DXF file to a particular AutoCAD release or version such as R12 or 2000?

I'm assuming you just went to File > Open in AutoCAD to open the DXF file that was created right?

Illustrator gives the following option: Save as type: AutoCad Interchange File (*.DXF)

Yes I used File > Open in AutoCad to open the DXF file.

Did you try to change color of layer to more visual?

Or try to export to *.dwg?

What version of Illustrator?

need to upgrade your Autocad version to 2008

or export to 2000 from Illustrator ( not sure about export version )

Or use any converter to convert it to older version if export save in higher than 2000

Perhaps one solution is to install DwgTrueView, open up the DXF and convert down to 2000.
