Learning Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 My ex-boss has a 32bit version of AutoCAD Electrical 2008 that he will let me have for my laptop. As you can see I am using a 64bit Dell and will have Widows 7 installed shortly. I would like to know if the 2008 32bit version will run on my system. I do not have enough money to purchase the program I really want and this will get me by until I can afford to by Inventor 2010. I installed DoubleCAD but not what I want. The people here have been very helpful and I thank you for your patience. Quote
Tankman Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Lots of yada, yada, yada about this subject. "Windows 7 is supported in AutoCAD 2010 (and 2011 and higher) and Inventor 2010 (and 2011 and higher). If you want to install and run older versions of AutoCAD, LT, or Inventor (2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, R11...) in Win7, you can use the virtualized "XP Mode" available for Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate and Enterprise (both 32-bit and 64-bit). To use the Windows XP Mode you will need a CPU hardware support. You can detect the HW virtualization support in your processor with the utility havdetectiontool.exe . The Windows XP Mode add-on (application) can be downloaded from the Microsoft web. Then you can install the tool through Windows Virtual PC > Windows XP Mode." Quote
JD Mather Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 My ex-boss has a 32bit version of AutoCAD Electrical 2008 .... Do you think you will be able to activate the license if you can get it installed? How many times previously has the license been activated? Quote
ReMark Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I think you have a shot at running it system-wise but first you'll have to contend with the license issue as JDM has mentioned above. Quote
Learning Posted December 31, 2009 Author Posted December 31, 2009 The license issue will not be a problem as he can put it on multiple computers and will give me the passwords I need. Quote
Cad64 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 You won't be able to install the 32 bit software directly from the install wizard. You will have to manually install it. Don't ask me how to do this though, as I've never done it myself, but if you try to install directly from the disk you will get a message stating that the software cannot be installed and the installer will close. You might want to search Google for instructions on how to perform the install. Good luck and let us know if you get it working. Quote
