MarvinX Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Hi, I'm trying to have my cameras transfered to a fresh file and it seems like it is not supported. I select the cameras->copy to clipboard and then to the fresh file i use paste to original coordinates! Something that would work with a simple object doesn't work with cameras...do i miss something or is it something of that "can't do" autocad issues? (note that i have turned on cameradisplay to 1 in both files) Thank you... Quote
Patrick Hughes Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Perhaps a more straight forward approach is in order. Simply open the drawing with the cameras you want, then perform a "SaveAs" to a new drawing name and delete any unwanted stuff. Quote
MarvinX Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 Yes, i agree, that would be the way to do it if the only thing that i wanted from my file were the cameras and wanted to end up with a totaly blank file(except the cameras). The thing is that i want to merge two complete drawings in one file. The ground floor and the first floor of a building. Each drawing-file has it's own cameras. Cameras and objects are in their absolute coordinate position so a simple copy from one file and paste to original coordinates to the other, would do the job...But either copying or merging both into a new file, either the one into the other the problem still exists. What do you do in this case? The straight forward approach that you mention is not a solution here. I have come across this problem many times and i ended creating new cameras for at least one file. There is got to be a way. Xref, insert block and everything else i can think of doesn't transfer cameras!!! Quote
Patrick Hughes Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Ahh, ok that's a slightly different scenario than what I thought. I'm not aware of a solution to that problem. Quote
Red333 Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Unfortunately, you can't copy cameras. I don't know why, but I've tried a thousand times and it's never worked. I would copy all the properties of the camera(s) and set up a new one in the new drawing and paste the properties in their respective locations. Quote
Cad64 Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I can copy and paste cameras in 2010 with no problems. I just can't paste to original coordinates. One thing you might want to try would be to xref file A into file B to use as a placeholder. Then copy and paste the contents of file A into file B, including cameras. Once you have file A pasted into file B, move those file A objects and align them with the file A xref. Once aligned, detach the xref. Quote
MarvinX Posted January 5, 2010 Author Posted January 5, 2010 Ok...that's the answer! 2010 can copy and paste with no problem except the paste to coordinates thing and the copy with basepoint. Thank you all... Quote
