Kosjenka Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I've made 2 parallel helix in 3D and I want to hatch it to make spiral stairs or ramp. But, I couldn't hatch it and I couldn't make region and boundary. Can somebodey help me, please? Quote
JD Mather Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Don't understand why you would hatch to make stairs or ramp? Connect the bottoms with a line. Sweep the line along one of the helixes. Thicken (for ramp). Quote
Kosjenka Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 well, because I don't know how to do it. I don't understand how to sweep a line along one spiral... Quote
JD Mather Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I don't understand how to sweep a line along one spiral... F1 Sweep You might go through the tutorials in my signature (written for 2007 Dashboard - but the techniques are the same using the Ribbon interface). If you can't figure it out attach what you have completed so far. Quote
Kosjenka Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 it says that it can't sweep... so I'll atach you.banovina, 3D.dwg Quote
JD Mather Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I made a few errors in logic. First of all, your outer helix must, of course, be a larger radius than inner helix. But no matter, you don't need it anyhow - delete it. You added thickness to your line - that isn't what I said to do. I said Sweep and then Thicken (the command Thicken F1 - on the surface resulting from the Sweep). Worked here? Did you already go through those tutorials I suggested - did you request the sample files? banovina, 3D.zip Quote
Kosjenka Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 Now I've done it. thank you very much, it looks great Quote
amit87 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 you could draw a circle at one end, hatch that and then sweep it along the helix path. Quote
JD Mather Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 you could draw a circle at one end, hatch that and then sweep it along the helix path. Can you attach a file that demonstrates this technique? Quote
