Jacky Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Hi, I am playing with 3D solid stuff right now. But I am wondering why people use imprint command. i don't see the benefit right now. thanks Quote
leo83_manish Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Imprints an object on the selected solid. The object to be imprinted must intersect one or more faces on the selected solid in order for imprinting to be successful. Imprinting is limited to the following objects: arcs, circles, lines, 2D and 3D polylines, ellipses, splines, regions, bodies, and 3D solids. Select a 3D solid: Select an object (1) Select an object to imprint: Select an object (2) Delete the source object : Enter y or press ENTER Select an object to imprint: Select an object or press ENTER Quote
Tiger Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Now the purpose of Imprint - that's trickier. I assume there are as many uses for it as there are users. But for complicated reliefs, like texts perhaps. Quote
JD Mather Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 You must not have done the tutorials in my signature. Imprint can be used to split faces. Imprint can be used (in conjunction with xedges) to create complex Sweep paths. See the attached file. How would you do that without imprint? (You might want to experiment with solidedit color faces) 8-Ball.zip Quote
Jacky Posted January 8, 2010 Author Posted January 8, 2010 Thanks to all of you! I will take a look at those uses in details. Perfect! thanks Quote
