AutoCAD 2007 comes with a free DWG to PDF.pc3 feature, but it's supposedly sub-par, and some of our stations are AutoCAD 2006. We use PDFCreator to plot to PDF, and this works fine when plotting a single drawing.

When the PDFCreator runs, it normally displays a screen asking you how to name the file, and then where to save it. This is not acceptable when batch plotting using the Publish feature, because it shows up for each drawing on the list.

We don't own Acrobat or anything. How could we Publish to PDF's more smoothly? Users in the office claim that they have been doing it all along, but have no idea how it might have been done, and I have no idea what they are talking about.

Publish a DWF file first, open it in Design Review, then print the file using your PDF driver. We do that all the time and it creates one PDF file for the entire set of sheets.

Would the cutepdf driver work in this situation?

Is there a way to set this up so that it does not prompt me to save each sheet? This is what it is doing now.

As far I know there isn't a way for this to avoid that.

i can copy pc3's from computer to computer but no one is running anything earlier then 2008 where i work so i cant check going back versions

I create a DWF first, then I open it in Design Review, click print, select my PDF driver and hit OK. Then I have to specify a file name and location ONE TIME, and it creates a single PDF with all of the pages in the DWF file. It should only ask you for a save name once.

After spending some time looking into the AutoCAD options and never saw a file location path. What I had planed todo is to load the exsiting PDF driver into the 2004 version of software based on the file path that was loaded in my 2008 version of the software.

Does any one know where I can find the .pc3 file? Cause if I am able to load it then I may be able to try a differant approach. Ill keep you posted on the details everyone.

I grabbed DWG to PDF.pc3 from the computer running AutoCAD 2007 ADT, and dropped it into the Plotters folder of a computer running AutoCAD LT 2006.

I went to plot and selected the .pc3 file as the plotter device, and got an error:

The device specified in the PC3 file cannot be found.

Device needed: PDF

Select one of the available printers shown below, or select None.

I tried selecting DWG To PDF.pc3 in this list, and clicking OK, which gave me another error:

This plotter configuration cannot be used for one of these reasons: the driver cannot be found, the device cannot be found, or the driver has a problem. The None plot device has been substituted.

Is there something else I need to do to install a plotter device using a .pc3 file? Or, do you think this is an intended limitation because it is supposed to be a feature of 2007?

Which "DWG to PDF" is this? There are lots of companies that make these programs. You can't just grab the .pc3 file from one computer and stick it in another computer and expect it to work. You have to install the "DWG to PDF" software.

It's a feature of AutoCAD 2007 ADT.

Ok, I thought it was one of those 3rd party apps. Is your 2006 LT also ADT? If not, the same principle applies. You can't just copy a pc3 file from one comp to another and expect it to work. Also, I don't think 2006 had the Dwg to Pdf option.

This seems like a good option. It may be that the OP would not have the plot to DWF function if they do not have the plot to PDF.

I have tried the plot to DWF many times, and I tried it again after your post. It appears to go through the function without a worry, but when I navigate to the folder I sent it to it is never there. I cannot get the DWF to work.
