jleonard Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I have modeled a set of solids in AutoCAD 2010. I need to get flat patterns of these Items, but my solidworks and Ironcad has failed me. My solidworks is an older version, 2006, and it didnt seem to like to flatten it, even though it all imported to a solidworks object. Ironcad doesnt like the splines. There is 2 objects, one is a radius bent plate with a cutout the other is a semi-intersecting piece of pipe. I am just in need of the top surface flat patterns so I can make template to use to cut this out. Will Inventor do this? Uploaded file is a AutoCAD 2010, I will upload a 2007 as well. shift1313 Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 i havent opened your files but im not sure it will flatten a solid object without it being converted to sheet metal. I know Solidworks 09 and newer can let you take a solid object, select which face is the base and other faces, bend edges and so on and let you create a sheet metal part from that. If i get time tonight ill try to open your drawings at home. Quote
kencaz Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Inventor will do it... Export your surface to Inventor. Thicken, convert to Sheet Metal and flatten. Simple. Then save feature out as .dwg or .dxf for cutting if needed. KC Quote
