MattWin Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Hi all, just wondering if I can get some help to try and save me some time with a drawing in 2D I am working on. I was wondering if it is possible to put a radius/fillet on many objects in one click to save me some time, basically if I was to individually radius all the objects in the drawing I have (which is being sent to laser cutting) I will use the fillet command 1877 times. Now I know there is the multiple option but even still my fingers may ache at the end of it. The nature of the drawing also means I cannot simply polar array or copy as the nature of each shape is unique. I've tried to explain without posting a screenshot but if required I will! Quote
mdbdesign Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Change all lines to polyline and: Command: _fillet Current settings: Mode = TRIM, Radius = user Select first object or [Polyline/Radius/Trim]: p Select 2D polyline: and that it. Quote
flyingjunkie Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 That sounds like a pretty good technique. I wouldn't have thought of that. I wonder if it will work for the application in which he's hoping to use it. Quote
mdbdesign Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Send them .dxf file. It is usable everywhere. Quote
MattWin Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 I've attached a very small portion of the drawing, as you can see converting to pline may take just as long as individual fillets, and also as you can see I can't array or copy as each shape is unique. On the plus side my right index finger is now strong enough to take a whole army down. Thanks for the suggestions though guys. Quote
flyingjunkie Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Given the amount of times you would have to use the fillet command, just looking at it, I do see what might be possibilities for a pattern that could possibly be copied and mirrored. But I can't say too much with just seeing that window. I could be wrong. Quote
bonehead411 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I agree with flyingjunkie, the pattern does look to be repeated in a circular nature from that small snapshot. Perhaps you could create a segment of geometry that could be arrayed? Ex 3.pdf Quote
MattWin Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 That screenshot perhaps does not show what I am attempting to do with the largest problem, around the datum the problem isn't so bad but when getting further out I get large amounts of irregularities with linking. As you can see. Quote

Select Pedit, then select multiple, select all of your lines then select join. It will ask for a Fuzz Distance, try 0 to see if it works. If it does not, you may need to increase the fuzz distance. I use this commmand on a daily basis to connect parts from manufacturers that do not have the best drawing practices that are used in my shop drawings. troutspinner Quote

That function is going to be used by me a lot more now. Thanks for the advice. Also the "Fuzz" The number you enter does it have any regularity to metric? For instance Fuzz=1 = 1mm? Command I used which seemed to work was: -Pedit -M **Select All** Return** -J -Fuzz - 0 Quote
Arizona Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I believe it's going to relate to whatever units you have your drawing set to. Quote
