Methuselah Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 ooooh... i want a shiny aluminum golfball!! Quote
craigp Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 All looking good. I know what you mean about the holes not been on a perfect axis but is there a way around this in CAD??? Looking forward to seeing FEWER98's on Monday to see what they came up with Quote

Looking forward to seeing FEWER98's on Monday to see what they came up with Well, its not going so well.. I can't get all of the spheres to subtract, I get some stupid error, but its only on a few spheres, and I don't know what to do.. Quote
Methuselah Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 haha.. now i feel like a cheater for using solidworks and not autocad... Quote
craigp Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 haha.. now i feel like a cheater for using solidworks and not autocad... That is cheating Using AutoCAD to create this is a challenge. FEWER 98 - Are you trying to subtract ALL of the spheres at once?? If so try subtracting just a few at a time. Does this work?? Quote

I've been only subtracting a few at a time.. I've got it narrowed down to one sphere here and there, and if I try to subtract that one by itself I get the error again.. I have no idea, i've tried to redraw the sphere and I still get the error... Quote
craigp Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Have you tried the PURGE and AUDIT commands yet?? If there are any errors the AUDIT should fix them? Quote
fewer_98 Posted September 19, 2005 Author Posted September 19, 2005 haven't tried to purge command.. Never knew of the Audit command.. I'll give that a shot at lunch.. Quote
fewer_98 Posted September 19, 2005 Author Posted September 19, 2005 ok, just tried them.. Didn't find any errors... this is the error I get "Modeling Operation Error: Coincident face_face_ints with different body vertices" Quote
craigp Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Not heard of that error before. Just a total silly idea but have you tried to cut/paste into another new CAD file and tried it from there? Quote
craigp Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 ok, just tried them.. Didn't find any errors... this is the error I get "Modeling Operation Error: Coincident face_face_ints with different body vertices" Just found someting as follows: MODELLING OPERATION ERROR: To avoid this problem, move the object closer to the UCS, perform the SOLIDEDIT commands, and then move the object back to its original location. Something to do with the solids been to far from the UCS or something Any luck? Quote
craigp Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Total time took me around 15 mins. Needs bit more work but getting there. Quote
fewer_98 Posted September 23, 2005 Author Posted September 23, 2005 now that is awesome.. how in the world did you do that? Mine looks like crap... Quote
craigp Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Draw a sphere @ 45mm go to FRONT view draw a largeish sphere INSIDE the other one (8mm ish)with the same centre points now move this smaller one up until it JUST intersects the larger one now 2D array this sphere with the centre point of the big one. Now switch to side viw and again 2D array ALL the small spheres. Hey presto all spheres are there in 2 commands Much quicker than 3D array Quote
B-Monty Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Total time took me around 15 mins. Needs bit more work but getting there. wow, i'm impressed. I'm new to cad, haven't done anything in 3d, just 2d land surveying and engineering maps. Quote
fewer_98 Posted September 26, 2005 Author Posted September 26, 2005 Quick one I did over lunch. Quote
craigp Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Very cool! I think yours is well better than mine as you seem to have ALL the dimples evenly spaced as mine cross over at points. How did you do that??? Quote
