MAREBER
Good morning, Our print shop is requesting our .dwg files to be sent as .tif group 4 format. I have been sending PDFs, but apparently .tif is the preferred format. (?) I have tried searching, and can only find reference to needing a converter program for this. Is this true? Is there a way to save as .tif group 4 from my CAD program w/out needing another step in the conversion process for printing? I hope this question is not too confused, obviously, I am. Thanks in advance for your help, Melanie BTW, I am using 2002 AND 2009
ReMark
2009 does not have an option to either Export or Save As in .tif file format. I think you are stuck with using a converter unless you can find another program that can Open or Import a .dwg file and then save it as a .tif file. Either way, it's going to cost you some $$$. MAREBER
Thanks ReMark, We are trying to work with BPS ( http://www.bps.com/ ). I had the rep walk me through attaching a zip of PDFs, and there was an issue after the fact of not being able to open the zip on their end. I just tried to upload more PDFs not ziped, and it timed out twice. So, I used the alternate page. There must be an easier way of transferring files? dbroada
I don't know specifically about .tif but check what "printers" you have. There is certainly a postscript printer in there which may be suitable - check with your print shop if they have other options. I thought there was a tif but I can't be certain. You may have to install a new printer to find some of the more exotic file formats.
ReMark
They're asking for .tif files because .pdf files are too much trouble?
ReMark
$70 for the full version (one license). $55 for the "lite" version. http://www.reaconverter.com/convert-pdf-to-tiff.html?gclid=CP3NhJO4i5UCFRLoxgodYXk2cA
fuccaro
I would try to set up a raster plotter and plot the drawings in a raster format (try out all of them to find the best one). From here Irfanview can batch convert images between the various formats. I didn't test this way, we use to plot ourselfs the drawings. Ask them: is tif the only accepted format? How about dwf? MAREBER
Sorry it took me so long to reply...it has been a crazy work week. Anyway, thanks so much for the help and advice. I am going to try and find another print source for the office. This location will only print with .tif apparently, so that means another step in the conversion process, thus, more expenses and more room for mistakes along the line. If not, then I will check into the converter you found ReMark. Thanks again!
rkmcswain
I am going to try and find another print source for the office. That was going to be my suggestion. The *easiest* way to get your sheets into G4TIF format is to just scan them. However, it's not the cheapest if you don't already have a large format scanner. cadvision
you could use Rasterex's RxHighlight to batch convert DWG to TIFF. You can also use CSoft's WiseImage Raster editor. If your print shop is just "printing", it is strange for them to require TIFF. Most new digiat printers/plotters have direct PDF printing. f700es
Can they handle .plt files? I really have to question a shop that can't handle PDF files. They are the universal file format.
