TheCan Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Hi! I've encountered a strange problem. One of my files suddently became about 11MB instead of the original 2MB. I quick fixed it by copying everything to a empty drawing and saving. The new file became 2MB as it should be. I then tried to figure out why the file got so big all of a sudden. Now I've erased everything in the drawing, including all layouts. When zooming extend it doesn't zoom to anything = the drawing is empty. But when using quick select it finds 94 objects, 1 hatch and 93 text. The file is still 11MB and I have purged. Does anyone know why?? Quote
Tiger Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 are they on a frozen layer? A near-black (or near-white) color? Quote
TheCan Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 No. no frozen layers and no dark colors. I can't even find the objects that quick seleckt finds. I'v tried zooming out and marking the entire area but no objects. Quote
Tiger Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 CAN YOU DELETE the stuff? have you done purge and audit? They are not on layer defpoint are they?If you just mark the text, does the texts have anything in common? Content, layer? Quote
dbroada Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 you can create a text object without any text. It will appear in the drawing but can't be selected. I have a LISP that will change NULL entries to a bit of text that can then be deleted but these days it is easier to use the properties palette. CTL-A to select everything and then select just the text in the drop down on the palette. Change the contents to something and all your text will be revealed. Quote
Tiger Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 just realised something - you have ACAD 2008 - have you resetted the Scaleliest? Type SCALELISTEDIT and hit reset. Quote
TheCan Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 I now managed to erase everything. I've used purge and audit several times and I can tell something is wrong because it takes some minutes to audit. I'm also a bit confused. I thought that audit only checked the stuff in the drawing. But my drawing is empty. Still it audit 61 blocks and fixes 1403 errors. I've done audit twice now on my empty drawing and both times 61 blocks and 1403 errors. Quote
TheCan Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 dbroada: It was text objects with no text but I selected them with ctrl-A so I could erase them tiger: I've reseted the scalelist several times. I thought that was the problem as well so when starting to search for the problem I changed program so now I'm working on the file in Civil3D 2009. Quote
